Wang’S Broth

Overview

If you’re ever wandering through the streets of Taipei, particularly in the bustling Wanhua District, you’re likely to encounter a hidden gem on Huaxi St: Wang’s Broth. Situated in the heart of one of the city's most vibrant food hubs, this humble yet highly revered spot is famous for its hearty, rich broth and traditional Taiwanese flavors that locals and visitors alike rave about.

Wang’s Broth has been a staple for many who crave authentic Taiwanese comfort food. The restaurant's specialties revolve around a selection of savory broths that cater to both meat lovers and vegetarians alike. Whether you’re looking for something spicy or a mild, warming bowl of goodness, this place has something that will hit the spot. As soon as you step into the small stall, the aroma of freshly simmered broth fills the air, setting the tone for what’s to come.

One of the standout features of Wang’s Broth is the consistency in quality. It’s a place where you’ll find a balance of flavors that feels both traditional and modern. They use a variety of locally sourced ingredients, ensuring that every bowl is made with care and attention. The key to the broth's deep and complex flavor is the slow simmering of bones and herbs for hours, allowing all the natural flavors to blend together perfectly. It’s an age-old technique that’s been perfected over generations and is clearly evident in every serving.

Located at the famous 17之4號攤位153號 on Huaxi St, this spot is often bustling with patrons eager to get a taste of the legendary broth. The restaurant has garnered a loyal following over time, especially with tourists who make sure to drop by after hearing rave reviews from locals. It’s the kind of place where people don’t mind waiting a little longer because they know the food is worth it.

If you’re new to the scene, don’t miss the signature dish-the braised pork broth. It’s a dish that really exemplifies what Wang’s Broth is all about: a rich, flavorful base paired with tender pieces of pork that melt in your mouth. The dish also comes with a variety of sides, such as soft tofu, vegetables, and a splash of chili oil for those who enjoy a bit of heat. Pair it with a side of freshly steamed rice, and you’ve got a meal that’s both satisfying and comforting.

Another favorite among regulars is the beef noodle soup, a classic that’s made with a deeply seasoned broth and perfectly tender beef slices. The noodles are made fresh daily, with just the right amount of chewiness that complements the savory broth. Each bite feels like a warm hug, especially on a cool day, and it's easy to see why it’s such a popular choice.

One of the unique aspects of dining at Wang’s Broth is the casual, street-side vibe. While the place is modest and doesn’t have a formal dining atmosphere, that’s part of its charm. It offers an authentic, no-frills experience where the focus is entirely on the food. The fast-paced, lively environment adds to the energy, making it the perfect spot to experience the true essence of Taipei’s local food scene.

Wang’s Broth is more than just a place to grab a meal; it’s an integral part of Taipei’s culinary culture. Many visitors flock to the spot based on recommendations from locals, and it's easy to see why. The restaurant doesn’t try to be fancy, and that’s what makes it stand out. It’s all about delicious food that’s prepared with care and a deep respect for tradition.

Whether you're a local or a tourist, a visit to Wang’s Broth is a must if you're in the Wanhua District. Its mix of great food, warm hospitality, and traditional Taiwanese flavors makes it a perfect place to unwind and enjoy a meal with friends or family. Each bowl is a testament to the time-honored flavors of Taiwan, and no matter what you choose from the menu, you’re guaranteed a taste of something special.

Affordable, fast, and delicious. No line on a weekday at 10:30am, and seating was plentiful. The braised pork rice (滷肉飯) is delicious here — definitely one of my favorites. The flavor is on point and the pork has the right amount of meat and fat. I preferred the mushroom + pork version, though it’s more expensive (85 NTD). You can easily fill up for less than $10 USD here and enjoy a variety of dishes, and it’s hard to order wrong. Very deserving of the Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition. I’m definitely returning the next time I’m in Taipei.

Wang’s Broth is a must-visit in Taipei! The braised pork rice is hands down one of the best I’ve had — rich, fragrant, and perfectly balanced without being overly oily. The pork meat soup is equally impressive, with tender meat and a comforting, flavourful broth that feels like a true local classic. Simple dishes done exceptionally well. If you want authentic Taiwanese comfort food, this place should be on your list.

We were in the neighborhood when we chose to have lunch here. Food: 5/5 we ordered the pork and mushroom rice, tofu and pork stew with mushrooms. All were tasty. A good place to experience Taiwanese rice. Service: 4/5 - service was okay. The routine is you grab a copy of the menu, check off what you want, go find a table and mark your table’s number on the paper, lineup, and pay. Atmosphere: 4/5 place is clean but limited seating. Avoid coming here during busy times like lunch. The place isn’t big enough to seat more than 3 people.

Visited this Michelin Guide recommended restaurant serving Taiwanese-style braised pork rice. Ordering can be a bit confusing at first because you get a paper menu to tick your choices select your rice, main dish, and side dishes. There’s no English translation, so it may feel a little tricky if you don’t read Chinese. The food itself is good the flavors are balanced, not too sweet or salty. Portions are satisfying, and the price is reasonable at around 300 TWD for a full meal. The restaurant can get quite busy, with long lines during peak hours. If you’re eating alone, service is relatively fast. Overall, it’s a great place to try authentic Taiwanese braised pork rice without breaking the bank.

Went to check out this Michelin rated place, expectations weren't as high since Chef Hung's was also Michelin rated but was seriously mediocre. Wang's Broth was AMAZING! I ordered the braised pork and mushroom rice (large) and a large side blanched vegetables. I was expecting the 1 thick slice of pork bellly but ordered the wrong dish. I was so hungry I ate it all and then went up and ordered the correct dish, Stewed pork on rice. All the dishes were incredible!! 10/10! Staff was friendly and helpful, place was clean and wasn't busy when I went just at 4pm on a Wednesday. Highly recommend! I will be going again before I leave for sure!!

The Stewed Pork Rice is amazing. The Fresh Fish Soup and Fried Tofu is not bad too. Service is fast despite the crowd. Once you find a seat and order, everything will come out quickly. Keep in mind that there are seating outside too so it wasn't that difficult to find seats. Even for my party of 5. I came to Wang's Broth the last night I was in Taipei. I wished I had discovered it earlier because it is definitely worth another visit.

Find a table before you fill your choices on an order form. Then go to the front to place order and pay. Remember to indicate your table number so the food can be sent to you (just a short wait). Every dish is nice and authentic. The 滷肉 looks sinful but they melt in your mouth. The soup is good too. It was a hearty meal, filled with locals and tourists. In case you don’t get a chance to eat it, they have a stall in Taoyuan airport Terminal 2, level 3.

We got the main stewed pork rice dish with mushrooms for 125NTD each (the braised pork dish is 80NTD). When you arrive, they usher you to a table and hand you a paper to order, just write the number for the dish(es) you want and hand it to them at the front. The food started to arrive literally like 1min after we submitted the order. I was in awe of their system and efficiency. The rice dish itself was amazing, the pork was really tender and the overall flavour profile was comforting and satisfying. The tofu was OK, there wasn’t much taste even though it was in a bowl of sauce. Good texture and good for a healthy dose of protein on the side though. Amazing meal for an amazing price.
